Upgrading to Dashboard
Upgrade from the standard homepage to Dashboard for the security roles that already have it and give roles that have never had a homepage one for the first time, at a pace you control.
I want to:
- Understand what Dashboard is
- See what's changing and why
- See how the rollout works
- Find out where to go next to start building
What is Dashboard
Dashboard is a home screen in Jobtrain, built around what a particular role needs to act on. Instead of one fixed homepage for everyone, you design a layout per security role, so when users log in, they land on the jobs, candidates and tasks that matter to them.

What's changing
Today, only superusers typically have the standard homepage switched on, with a set layout. Other roles may not have a homepage at all, they land straight into another area of Jobtrain, such as Jobs, when they log in.
- If a role already has the standard homepage, Dashboard replaces it with a purpose-built view for that role
- If a role doesn't have a homepage today, Dashboard can give that role a home screen for the first time
- You design your own dashboard templates, built around each role's needs
- Dashboard is switched on per Security Role, so no role changes until you enable it
Why we're changing
Most teams start their day searching for what they need to work on, moving across Jobs, Search or Reports to piece together where things stand.
Dashboard puts that picture in front of them the moment they log in, built around what their role needs to act on:
- Recruiters managing live vacancies opens straight onto them
- Managers reviewing candidates see how they're progressing, without having to ask
- Onboarding teams see who's due to start
- Most dashboard data refreshes overnight, so the picture is ready first thing
How the rollout works
Dashboard is switched on per Security Role, so you can upgrade your teams gradually rather than all at once.
As well as deciding when to upgrade each role, this is a good opportunity to decide which additional roles you'd like to bring onto Dashboard for the first time.
A suggested rollout order
- Upgrade a security role already on the standard homepage to pilot with first
- Build and assign its dashboard template, then gather feedback from that team
- Use what you learn to refine the template before building the next one
- Bring remaining roles across when you're ready, in whatever order suits your teams
What you'll need to do
Enabling access, building templates and assigning them to roles all happens in Security Roles and General Settings.
There are guides covering this, depending on which stage you're at.

FAQs
Does anything change if we don’t activate the dashboard?
No. Dashboard is switched on per Security Role. Your teams keep the experience they have today until you enable Dashboard for their role and assign a template.
We still have some roles on the standard homepage, do we have to upgrade everyone at once?
No. Dashboard is switched on per Security Role, so you can roll this out gradually. Some roles can move to Dashboard while others stay on the standard homepage until you're ready to upgrade them.
Some of our roles have never had a homepage. Can they have a Dashboard too?
Yes. Dashboard is a chance to give any role a home screen for the first time, built around what that role needs to see.
