Add ECNI equal opportunities questions to Direct Apply applications

Set up ECNI equal opportunities questions on your Direct Apply application form. This guide is for Northern Ireland clients only.

This guide is only relevant if your organisation uses ECNI (Equality Commission for Northern Ireland) equal opportunities monitoring. Most clients don't need this, if that's you, see Add equal opportunities questions to Direct Apply instead.

 I want to:

  • Give the right users access to configure ECNI questions
  • Add ECNI-compliant equal opportunities questions to the Direct Apply application form
  • Turn ECNI questions on for a specific job

Before you start

This guide is only relevant if your organisation is using Direct Apply for Indeed or other job board applications.  See our guide to setting up Direct Apply applications.

You need access to Security Roles to complete step 1 below.

Step 1: Give users access to ECNI Equal Opps

  1. Go to Settings > Security Roles, then the Settings tab
  2. Find ECNI Equal Opps and enable the toggle

This gives the user access to:

  • The ECNI Equal Opps tab on the Direct Apply Application form
  • The Include ECNI Equal Opps toggle on each job's Assessment page

Step 2: Add ECNI-compliant questions

  1. Go to Settings > Application Forms > Direct Apply Application Form
  2. Select the ECNI Equal Opps tab
  3. Select questions from the Assessment Form Question Bank, or create new custom fields using a compatible question type

These questions are shown to candidates applying via Indeed Direct Apply once enabled for a job (see step 3).

Supported question types:

  • Text
  • Multi-choice (one answer)
  • Multi-choice (more than one answer)
  • Date

You manage ECNI questions the same way as standard Equal Opportunities questions.

Step 3: Enable ECNI Equal Opps for a job

  1. Make sure Equal Opportunities questions are enabled on the Direct Apply Application form
  2. On the job's Assessment page, enable the Include ECNI Equal Opps toggle

If no questions are configured in either the standard or ECNI tabs, candidates are not shown any equal opportunities questions for that job.

FAQs

Do I need both the standard Equal Opps and ECNI Equal Opps tabs set up?

Standard Equal Opps questions need to be enabled on the Direct Apply Application form before you can turn on ECNI Equal Opps for a job, see step 3.
