            Use Google Analytics with Jobtrain to track online applications

            Modified on Fri, 13 Nov, 2020 at 5:40 PM

            Google Analytics can help you measure:

            • The sources of online applications to your site and job adverts
            • Views vs. applications (drop off)
            • How long visitors spent on the site and other pages they visited
            • What type of devices visitors used, etc

            After setting up a Google Analytics account, you will get a unique GA tag. Jobtrain can place this tag on and up to the 'thank you page' (the last page a candidate clicks to submit a completed application). This will give you traceability up to the point of application submission.

            In order to place the tag, we will require some code from your Google Analytics account. Here are some helpful tips from Google on how to retrieve the tag code:

            Basic instructions

            1. If you have not already done so, create a property in Google Analytics. Create one Analytics property for each website you want to collect data for. Creating a property generates a Google Analytics ID, which you'll use in your gtag.js installation.
            2. Find your Google Analytics ID, as described below.

            Find your Google Analytics ID

            1. Sign in to your Analytics account.
            2. Click Admin .
            3. Select an account from the menu in the ACCOUNT column.
            4. Select a property from the menu in the PROPERTY column.
            5. Under PROPERTY, click Tracking Info > Tracking Code. Your Google Analytics ID is displayed at the top of the page.

            The Global Site Tag (i.e. tag code)

            The global site tag is several lines of programming code that Jobtrain require.  Your customized global site tag appears in a text box under the heading "Global Site Tag (gtag.js)".

            1. Copy the entire contents of the text box.
            2. Send the programming code to Jobtrain's HelpDesk so they can book the work in with our Technical Team.

            <!-- Global Site Tag (gtag.js) - Google Analytics -->

            ... (several lines of customized programming code appear here)

            </script>
