Connecting your psychometric assessment provider

How Jobtrain connects to the psychometric provider you already use, so candidates are invited from Jobtrain and their results come back into it.

Don't have a provider yet?

Jobtrain includes scored assessment forms as standard, at no extra cost. They measure what a candidate tells you about their experience and suitability for a role, where psychometric assessments measure aptitude, personality and behaviour using a provider's validated tests. Watch our How to ace scoring and screening of candidates webinar and read our Score Assessment Form Setup guide.

The rest of this guide is about connecting a provider you already use.

I want to:

What a psychometric provider connection does

A psychometric provider connection links Jobtrain to the assessment provider you already use. When a candidate reaches your assessment stage, Jobtrain passes their details to your provider. Your provider delivers the assessment as normal, then returns the results to Jobtrain, where they are shown against the candidate record.

This means you stop exporting candidate details, inviting candidates outside Jobtrain and keeping scores in a second system.

How it works

Stage

What happens

1. Candidate reaches your invite status

Jobtrain sends the candidate's details and the assessment package to your provider.

2. Your provider delivers the assessment

Your provider emails the candidate, who completes the assessment on your provider's platform, exactly as they do today.

3. Results return to Jobtrain

Your provider sends the results back, including scores and any report documents.

4. Results appear against the candidate

The candidate's percentile appears in a sortable Psychometric column on the Candidate Listing page, showing how they compare with others who took the same assessment. The full results and report sit on the candidate application.

You keep your existing relationship, contract and account with your assessment provider. Jobtrain does not supply or resell psychometric assessments, it connects to the provider you have already chosen.

Before you start

Before a connection can go ahead:

  • You must have an existing relationship with a psychometric assessment provider
  • Your provider must have a technical team with the capacity to build and support the connection, unless they are already connected to Jobtrain
  • Your provider must be able to give us a test environment and credentials for end-to-end testing

The connection is built jointly, so the timeline depends as much on your provider as on Jobtrain. Waiting on credentials and test access from the provider is the most common cause of delay, and it sits outside our control.

Jobtrain is already connected with providers Arctic Shores and Talogy. Yours does not need to have worked with Jobtrain before.

      Can your provider connect?

Providers vary in how easily they can meet Jobtrain’s standard. There are three likely outcomes, and Jobtrain offers a free 30-minute consultation call to help establish which one applies to you before anyone commits time.

      1. Already connected to Jobtrain. The quickest route. There is no new development, so the work is configuration, testing and enabling the connection on your site.
      2. New to Jobtrain but able to build to our standard. Most modern assessment providers fall here. They build their side once using our published guide, then we test together and enable the connection on your site.
      3. Unable to send results in Jobtrain's standard format. This is common with older platforms, or where a provider cannot change their data structure. The connection is still possible, but it needs a translation layer between the two systems. That is additional work outside the standard connection and is scoped on the consultation call before anything is agreed.

      Requesting a connection

      1. Share the Jobtrain Psychometric Integration Guide for Vendors with your provider’s technical contact, so they can confirm which of the three outcomes above applies.
      2. Ask your Jobtrain Account Manager to arrange a free 30-minute consultation with the Jobtrain Product team, including your provider's technical contact.
      3. Jobtrain and your provider agree the technical detail.
      4. Jobtrain issues the credentials your provider needs for your site.
      5. Jobtrain and your provider test the connection end to end in a test environment.
      6. Jobtrain enables the connection on your live site once testing is complete.

      Once the connection is enabled

There is then configuration to complete in your own site, covering your psychometric packages, the assessment form used on each job, your invite and completed statuses, and the scored assessment if you want invitations sent automatically.

       FAQs

Do we need to change our psychometric provider?

No. If the connection works with the provider you already use, and your contract and account with them stay exactly as they are.

Do we need a psychometric provider at all?

Not necessarily. Jobtrain includes scored assessment forms as standard, covering role-specific questions, scoring and automatic status updates without a third party. A psychometric provider adds validated testing of aptitude, personality and behaviour.
